Didn't need to know that...

We've just been camping down south for a week. It's a beautiful spot...

But there are snakes.
And scorpions.
And FLIES!
Jasper spent most of the time lying in the shade snappin g at the march flies. He's actually quite good at catching them. We had a pair of flytraps hanging up near our camp. This is what they looked like after one week.

Those white things? They're the maggots. Not putting you off your dinner, am I?

Which in turn lead to some interesting conversations around the campfire. For example, my brother Mr Sunshine looked over at the jar traps and asked Dad:

"Do you just throw them out when they're full of flies?"

"Oh, no" said Dad innocently, "You can't get refill liquid for them, but I just empty them out and put something else in, and the flies seem to like that..."

Mum began to giggle hysterically "Something else? I love the way you said that- 'something else'- especially when I know what that something else was!"

At that point, Mr Sunshine and I both knew we didn't want to know what "something else" meant. We also knew we were about to find out anyway.

" Well," said Dad, looking over at the dog, who was still snapping at flies, "Let's just say Jasper helps us catch flies in more ways than one."

I don't know these people.

YUCK! But it looks like a lovely camping spot if you don't think too much about all the other stuff!
